The Council of Indian Nations (CIN) is
headquartered in Phoenix, Arizonia. CIN
programs reach out to communities that lack
reasonable access to medical facilities, stores,
electricity, and water.

Since it began working in the Southwest in 1995,
CIN has established relationships with more than
100 Program Partners. These Program Partners
assess community needs, recruit volunteers, plan
distribution and execute programs that
effectively meet their communities' real needs.

Hunger among the elderly in Southeast Native
American communities is a constant reality, and
CIN focuses on programs that respond to this
problem. CIN community feeding programs help
improve the quality of food served to elders in
community centers, thus ensuring that these
elders eat at least one nutritious meal a day.
CIN also provides staples such as beans, rice,
soup, flour, and baking powder so the elders may
have nutritious meals at home, and our Program
Partners distribute the food to elders in
outlying areas. In keeping with an emphasis on
self-sufficiency, the elders or their families
usually have volunteered for community service
in order to receive free staples.
